save me
Save Me is more than just a drawing—it’s a gift with a purpose. Created in graphite, the piece captures the intricate beauty of the pangolin’s protective scales while revealing the quiet vulnerability of one of Africa’s most endangered species. I was honored to gift this artwork to Franck Global in support of their incredible conservation efforts, knowing that art can serve as a powerful voice for awareness and change. Their dedication to protecting wildlife resonates deeply with me, and I hope this piece inspires more conversations about the urgent need to safeguard these remarkable creatures for future generations.
A Silent Burrow, A Shouted Message
Tucked into the dark curve of its burrow, the pangolin rests—not in peace, but in pause. Its body is a fortress of ancient scales, tightly coiled in instinctive defense. There’s a quiet in that curl, a hush of survival, as if the creature is listening to a world that’s grown too loud with danger. In drawing Save Me, I imagined the earth breathing around it—the weight of soil above, the cool safety of the nest, and the distant tremble of human footsteps. This isn’t just an animal hiding; it’s one holding onto its last place of refuge.
The pangolin’s curled form, rendered in delicate graphite, becomes a symbol—of resilience, of neglect, and of vanishing beauty. Once widespread and largely unknown, this gentle creature has been hunted to the brink. It hasn’t just been overlooked—it’s been nearly erased. In this drawing, I wanted to freeze that final moment of shelter. A pangolin may never raise its voice, but art can. This piece is its whisper turned into a call—a quiet plea for protection, and a reminder that what we fail to see, we may lose forever
